Ella {10 Months}

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

First of all, can you say model status!! This girl is so cute and already 10 months old! I can't believe that there is only two more months until her first birthday. Time seriously flies by so fast! Not much has changed since last month except for the fact that she is standing so much better on her own and even took her very first step ever the first day! She will be walking before we know it and man will we be in some trouble with two kids walking!!

Ella is still a mommy's girl! She loves to be held and hates to be put down. Sometimes I just want to get things done, but then I stop a remember that she is NEVER going to be this little again! And I get sad and then snuggle her and love her and take lots of pictures so I don't forget what it was like! Sometimes I wish I could just freeze time or be able to go back in time to be able to hold her when she was younger!! That it why I am so glad I am able to stay home with the kids, and not be able to miss their childhood!

We decided to brave the cold and go to the park the other day. Ella wasn't a fan, but that hat is so adorable on her, and she actually kept it on her head! Whenever I put headbands or hats on her head ten seconds later she rips them off. So most of the day she goes without them but I always try to get her in one for church, or whenever we see people, and especially pictures! I thought that if I always put a headband on her she would get used to it when she was older and wouldn't rip them off because she just always would wear them, put that theory failed. Oh well, I am going to keep putting them on her, and maybe she will just accept it. Ha! I just think she looks so cute in them I can't resist putting them on her.

This picture sums up Ella the last month! Poor girl has been sick for a lot of the time and just wants to snuggle and suck her thumb. She is usually so smiley but has been more snuggly and sensitive this month. Her days usually consist of playing a little (when she plays, she loves to play with her big brother Boston with his cars and even makes sounds) but usually sleeping a lot.

New Job!

I am so excited to be one of the newest e-designers for Laurel & Wolf! Staying in the interior design community has been something I have wanted to maintain, however, staying at home with the kids has made it difficult to do that! I also didn't want to have to "go into" work, I really wanted to be able to stay home with our kids and be able to take care of them and be there for them. So my wants conflicted, this was until I started applying for e-design positions. Basically, I will offer my knowledge and expertise into finding pieces that work for my clients and give them the information on where to buy and how it should be put together, and the client does the work of purchasing and setting it up.

I am excited for the experience and that I found a way to be able to stay home with my kids, but also be able to work and get a little extra income for our family which will be such a blessing. I am excited to be apart of the Laurel & Wolf team and get started designing!!

If you are interested in any e-design services, I would be more than happy to help you! Just email or message me, and we can work something out!

We're Going to Disneyland!

Friday, February 19, 2016

46 days and counting! As each day goes by I get more and more excited for our trip. I have never been to Disneyland and this will also be Boston and Ella's first time! Blake has gone many many times and is so excited to be able to see us experience Disneyland. If you don't know my husband's family, they LOVE all things Disney and have gone to Disneyland dozens of times (I am not exaggerating here). So by marrying Blake I not only married the family too, but also their love of Disney and it has grown on me! I am even in the process of making matching family shirts to wear our first day their, I know so cliche, but I want this trip to be AWESOME! And I know it will be!

At first I thought it would be better if it was just our little family that went for the first time so we could have that special experience of seeing things for the first time for ourselves, but the more I think about it, I am glad it is going to be the whole Mecham clan! We are going to have a blast! Plus grandma and grandpa will be able to watch the kids so Blake and I can go on the big rides! I am so excited!

Stay posted, because I will most likely be posting about the fun Disney crafts I am going to do in preparation for our trip! Like the matching t-shirts, Mickey Mouse autograph book for Boston, and countdown chain for our trip!

Valentine's Day {2016}

Sunday, February 14, 2016

This year Valentine's Day took a more low key approach. With Blake, Boston, and Ella being sick with coughs and runny noses, they didn't want to do much. So I went a head and made them some pancakes for breakfast that were pink and heart-shaped to celebrate the holiday. I always have a grander idea in my head of what I plan on doing and it always takes a simple route because something always comes up to alter my plan! But as I was working on breakfast Blake tapped me on the shoulder so I would turn around, and he had a pink carnation with a heart shaped box of chocolate. Yes it was simple but that is all I need right now, so it was perfect!

Since it was Sunday I got ready to go to church and even stayed up the night before to make Boston a cute red bowtie to match with Ella's red dress. I was sad that I was the only one who ended up going to church because I really wanted to have Boston and Ella in their cute Valentines outfits but the both were not feeling well so they slept and Blake stayed home as I went to church.

It makes me so sad to see my little babies sick, but at least Boston was feeling up to a cookie! He sure has a little sweet tooth and he loved the yummy sugar cookies we made the day before for Valentines day! I love baking and it is so fun to be able to decorate the cookies. (Only 15 more days and I will finish my Whole60 so then I can try them! )

I loved Ella's cute outfit! It was so cute on her with the ruffled baby leg warmers and the heart shaped headband, plus she can make any outfit look cute! I didn't really have a "Valentinesy" outfit for Boston but he did a a red and grey raglan shirt so I thought that would work great and it did! Plus he would much rather go naked so worrying about a Valentine's outfit wasn't that big a deal.

For dinner I didn't even get out the tablecloth, because no one was really hungry because of the sickness! But I still managed to make some spaghetti for dinner, as a plus I used my spiralizer to make some carrot noodles for me, so I could eat dinner as well and it was good! I am still getting the hang of the spiralizer but plan to use it more in my Whole30 dishes!

This chalkboard art I did by our front door was the only Valentines decor I managed to get around to doing this time around. It is a little sad but time just kept getting away from me so I never got around to making a heart garland to hang, but we did manage to send out Valentines to grandma and grandpa so that was a win! Hopefully next year we will be a little more festive! And I finally got Boston and Ella in their Valentines outfits, just a week late, but at least they weren't as sick this week as last! Hope your Valentine's Day was filled with love and chocolate!

Headshots

Wednesday, February 10, 2016

I am not one to be in the camera much, but I was in the process of applying to be an e-designer and was asked to provide a headshot. Seeing as it had been a little over three years (my wedding) since I had officially had a professional photo done of me, my older photos just weren't going to do! I scoured Facebook for any recommendation for a photographer to take a couple shots of me, as my photographer I had been using for the kids moved away a few weeks ago. I needed them done and edited quick and was so happy to find KH Photography, she is just a student here in Rexburg, but I loved my pictures and how they turned out, which is saying a lot because I don't usually think that of myself when I see a picture of me. So if you are local, go to Kelsey for all your photography needs, she is great, works fast, and produces amazing work!!

Whole60

Friday, February 5, 2016

With my Whole30 finished in January, I still didn't feel quite done with the program. I accessed myself on how I did and came to the conclusion that extending for another 30 days would be beneficial to me and my health. The reason I came to this conclusion was that I didn't really do a true Whole30 I snacked all the time and hardly exercised. I felt like I hadn't captured what the program was intended to help you accomplish. So I felt like I needed to reevaluate and really set goals this time.

Since it was my second Whole30 I figured I know what to do I don't need to set goals but that is so wrong! Setting goals helps you focus and keep with the program. So for this February I have decided that my goals are to; drink more water, less snacking, and exercise daily. Since making these goals, I have followed through with them and feel more accomplished and better than I did during more January Whole30.

I am excited to continue doing this and hope that this time around and with the extension of 30 more days, I will be able to achieve what I hope to and continue to better my health!
