Girly Floral Nursery

Friday, January 29, 2016

I just love all things girly, and have really been into florals, pink, and gold lately! So I took to that as my inspiration for designing a nursery for a little girl. I love the bright and fun pattern of the oversized floral rug to really bring attention the the focal point of the room, the crib! Mixing the styles of older vintage details and modern lines is what bring variety and interest to the room. Gold has been very popular and trendy, especially when paired with pink - and I love the contrast of something a little more bold with something a little softer. The inherent metallic nature of gold makes for a great way to add a little more light to the room as it is very reflective. I adore this space and even would live in it if I could!

Ella {9 Months}

Sunday, January 24, 2016

I can't believe we have had Ella here with us as long as I was pregnant with her. It goes by SOOOOOO much faster when they are actually here than the months and months of pregnancy! With the nine months we have had Ella as part of our family we have enjoyed them, and can't imagine our lives without her in them! She has sure developed her own little personality, full of smiles, laughing, playing, getting into things, and most of all being a mommy's girl!

Ella has finally decided to start full on crawling and did just a few weeks after she turned eight months. Now she gets around so much faster and hasn't looked back! Now that she is even more mobile that her army crawling days, I find myself cleaning up more often as she likes to be a little trouble maker with her brother, but she is so cute it is hard to ever get mad! The other day she got into the vaseline and had it all over her arms, legs, and even face! Her skin is still so smooth now because of it!

This little girl has even more milestones this month; like eating table food, saying "mama" (yay!), and even sprouting her first tooth! It all happens so fast it is hard to keep track of each new thing she experiences, but I am so glad I get to stay home with her all day so that I don't miss it!

Her favorite food is bananas still, and would choose baby food bananas over real bananas any day. She loves cheerios, carrots, bread, apples, and potatoes, but loves them even more if she can feed herself. Pulling out all the diapers and making a mess of them is one of her favorite activities, as well as playing tag with her big brother Boston. She loves to feel the "touch and feel" books and even likes to turn the pages herself! If she can pull herself up onto something, that is what she will do. She loves to walk along furniture and will even let go and stand for a few seconds before holding on again. Her smile is so contagious and I can't help but smile when she laughs. Getting a picture of her is nearly impossible because she is always on the move. If she could have it her way, she would be held all the time because she loves to be carried, especially by me - she is such a mommy's girl!

She is measuring great and according to the charts a little bigger than average in height (28 inches)  and weight (19 pounds), being about 64% in both areas, this is a drop from the almost 90% in weight and about 70% in height from last visit, but is proportioned well! She is now in 12 month clothes, although she still wears some 6-12 month sizes. Where did my baby go?

Weekend Trip to Utah

Monday, January 18, 2016

We felt like we had just gotten back from Christmas vacation in Utah and then it was time to go back again. We almost didn't want to go because Blake was finally settling into a school and work routine and I was settling into a routine and getting things done, everything was going great. To go down just for a weekend seemed a little inconvenient, but I had already scheduled a dentist visit and Blake's sister was blessing her baby, so we made the trek down to Utah again.

No matter how many times we go down to Utah and whether I feel like going or not, it always turns into a fun weekend with family and we are glad we were able to see everyone again so soon. But it is always good to get back into a routine!

We were able to go to a few family activities while we were there like a family dinner on my side, a baby blessing, a dentist visit, and going out to eat! We may call it vacation, but there is never a dull or really chill moment when we come down to visit, but that is what makes it fun! Spending time with family and enjoying the time we have with them.

Since it was Martin Luther King Jr. Day there was no school so it was a long weekend. I had my dentist appointment schedule that Monday, along with the rest of my family. As we waited, Boston was able to spend time with his favorite uncle "Ogin" (Logan). Every time we would go to get in the car, he would ask if we were going to go see "Ogin", and still does it now that we are back in Rexburg. That kid is so silly, but so is his uncle.

After the dentist, we went out to eat at Pizza Pie Cafe in Provo. I had only been to the Rexburg location, and this one was so much bigger and nicer! I liked it a lot! We enjoyed a good meal and Ella even slept the whole time we were there, which made it a lot easier to actually eat my food. We then said our goodbyes and headed back up to Rexburg.

Whole30 | Round Two

Friday, January 1, 2016

So I have decided to do another Whole30 beginning January 1st. I really needed to kick myself in gear with healthier habits since over the holidays I indulged a little too much. I loved the way I felt when I was doing the Whole30 and really wanted to get back to feeling that way again, plus it isn't too terribly hard, just takes some getting used to at first. My husband thinks I am crazy to do it again, but when I set my mind to something I stay with it, and that is what I am going to do.

My goals this time around are to try some more recipes, drink more water, and exercise better. These goals aren't technically related to Whole30 but I felt that I could incorporate more this time as I have a better understanding of what to expect and know I can actually make it through one. Here's to another Whole 30 and a Happy New Year!
